Questions

How is an executive assistant resume different from a VA resume?

It's built around the person you supported. Name their title and the size of the company, then show what you ran for them: calendar, inbox, travel, reports and follow-ups.

How much experience do I need?

One of our executive assistant listings asked for at least 3 years supporting a CEO, founder or other C-level executive. If you have less, lead with the admin work closest to it and apply to admin assistant roles too.

How do I show private work on a resume?

Describe the kind of work and how much of it there was, and leave the client's names and figures out. A line like "Handled payroll files for 40 staff" tells a new client enough.

Which tools should I list?

Start with the ones the listing names: one of ours asked for Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Then add the tools your executive used every day, as long as you've used them yourself.

Should I send it as a PDF or a Word file?

PDF, unless the listing asks for Word. A PDF looks the same on every screen. Our apply form takes PDF, DOC or DOCX files up to 10 MB.
